We build the e-Editions, websites, mobile apps and archives for 1,000+ community newspapers, the kind with a staff of six, a press deadline on Tuesday, and no IT department.
Most community papers end up paying separately for a website, an e-Edition reader, an app, a paywall and a subscriber list that none of the others can see. That is the problem this replaces.
A responsive, flip-page replica of your printed paper, emailed automatically the moment it is ready. Full-text search, works properly on a phone.
Fast, mobile-first, built for news rather than adapted from a business template. Metered, hard or hybrid paywall, whichever fits your market.
Native iOS and Android, branded to your masthead. Push notifications you can target by geography or segment. Offline reading for the commute.
Decades of back issues become a searchable, OCR'd archive. Most papers turn theirs into a revenue line rather than a storage cost.
Short-staffed? Our team lays out your pages to your templates. No minimums, no contract, start with one section next week.
$20 a pageOne login, one paywall, one place to see who is about to churn. That last part is the one publishers tell us they miss most when they are running three systems that disagree with each other.
It is the first question every publisher asks, and it should be.
We move it. Your back issues, your subscriber records, your URL structure. The archive comes across searchable, your existing links keep working through a full redirect map written before cutover, and your search rankings do not reset.
The honest version: a typical migration runs four to six weeks, most of which is us working and you reviewing. The heaviest week on your side is subscriber-data reconciliation, because most papers hold that data across two or three systems that disagree. You publish normally the entire time. If any vendor proposes a timeline with a publishing gap in it, that is a red flag rather than a scheduling detail.
And the archive stays yours. Exportable on request, in a standard format, in writing.

You have been pitched by newspaper technology vendors for twenty years. Here is ours, stated plainly.
No annual contract, no early termination fee. If we stop earning it, you leave.
Migration included. You do not pay to become a customer.
You should not have to sit through a call to find out what something costs. It is on the pricing page.
US-based support, and whoever picks up knows what a broadsheet is and why your Tuesday matters.
USPS raised Periodicals rates 6.8% on July 12, with 9.3% within county. Steepest of any class of mail. We built a calculator that shows what it costs your paper specifically, and how many mailed copies you would have to move to an e-Edition to erase it. For most papers the answer is under 10%.
Tell us the paper and we will send back a short, specific answer: what it would cost, what would move, and how long it would take. If it is not a fit, we will say so.
Four fields, because that is all we actually need. Or just email support@etypeservices.com. It goes to a person.
Thanks. We'll come back to you within one business day.
